Union Market was the pilot redevelopment project for Edens Development in the New York Avenue Corridor at 4th and 5th Streets NE, and quickly established itself as a destination location with its open market concept using shared vendor spaces and a mixture of program options.To further the traction of the development efforts in the area, Edens contracted LED-BETTER Studios and KLA to begin the retail component for the area, revitalizing an old warehouse building with new storefront and renovated shell spaces. The project will include at least two high caliber restaurant tenants, as well as several smaller retail shops, and a second floor business tenant that will occupy about 12,000 sf of the overall leasable square footage. The model of multiple tenant types with varied ‘open’ times keeps the building active at all hours, and sets up this area to become a key neighborhood in the DC area with high quality tenants and rents.
