The existing 3-story house, a former farmhouse built in the early 1900's, sits amid a collection of existing outbuildings and at the edge of a tree line and open 3.5 acre field. The design intent for the addition/renovation was to complement and respect the historical character of the site through use of vernacular forms while creating a stronger relationship between interior and exterior. The proposed 800 sf addition includes a new kitchen, bathroom, studio, and family room. The existing house will also be remodeled to include additional bedroom suites and bathrooms. Exterior upgrades will also include new siding, roofing, and landscaping.
