SCATTERED SITE PROTOTYPE UNITS PHASE FOUR. Baltimore, MD
Contractor//Cross Street Partners . Civil//Colbert, Matz & Rosenfeltz . Cost//$906,000.
The final phase of the design and build out of 23 accessible public housing units throughout the City; these 3 homes located on the site of a former elementary school provided an opportunity to create a dialog between the homes while relating to the existing neighborhood and common elements of porches, high pitched roofs, double-hung windows and siding without any apparent visual cues on the exterior regarding their compliance with UFAS (Uniform Federal Accessibility Standards) and ADAAG (2010 ADA). These universally designed homes provide parking access off a newly created private drive while presenting a new streetscape to the east. The larger 2-story home is sited along the intersecting street to the south adjacent to larger homes in the neighborhood while the smaller units are located to the north where single story homes are typical.
The homes are 3 and 4 bedroom units with 2 baths and expand upon the typology developed in the first 3 phases. |
