The Congress Ballroom
The Congress Hotel, Baltimore, MD
The Ballroom, located on the main level
of the historic Congress Hotel, is the location of offices for K.Lechleiter
Architect and Floura Teeter Landscape Architects. The design intent
is to highlight the character of the existing Ballroom including
the extensive plaster detailing, wood waistcoat, and marble floors
by creating a minimalist intervention. The open office features
a simple fabric "scrim", which separates the studio space
from the public reception and conference areas. In addition, the
office environment utilizes "green" principles with the
use of environmentally-friendly materials, operable windows, and
inclusion of bamboo and native grasses within the space.
